ROCSANNE SHIELD was born in Romania post WWII and spent her formative years behind the Iron Curtain. She had all the advantages (free education, free medical care) and disadvantages (no political or intellectual freedom) of a socialist/communist regime. She left as a tourist and forgot to return at the end of her approved time abroad.

The Corporation has left, bank foreclosures empty house after house, people leave in droves…the town is slowly dying.  One day, Leo and his mother Leona discover Edmund lying in full medieval armor in the nearby woods and bring him home with them.  A black wizard, he was cursed to perform only good magic and banished from England, 1307.  Hurled into the time flow, he landed into the USA, 2007, in answer to Leona’s fervent prayers for help to save her town, Edmund discovers and is fascinated by the magical powers of the Internet and wants to bring instant relief to the townspeople, but Leona, who does not trust their dependency on magic, forbids him to do so.  Luckily, Leo and his buddies — Squirrel and Raccoon — embrace the idea of magic with enthusiasm, conspiring with Edmund to help Leona and the town.  When misfortune strikes, Edmund, with Leona’s blessing, uses his magic to save the children.

Each child has a special talent which grows and matures with the story.  The sprinkle of fantasy and magic brings a breath of hope into a dark story so like our times.
