Far too few books have been written about the heroic men of the Bataan Death March. Dr. Hill has done an amazing job of organizing her father’s letters and diary This tremendous tribute to her father’s life turns an incredible story of human depravity into an inspirational moving story of bravery and courage. It should be a must read for all school age students. JC. Pardue was a man of faith and his courage and bravery knew no bounds. His story truly lets us know that freedom is not free.

Telling His Story: POW #1000 The Bataan Death March and Japanese POW Camps is the story of 3.C. Pardue POW #1000, a true American Hero, although he would never have admitted it himself. If anyone had reasons to be bitter, it was POW #1000, but his terrible years as a Japanese POW did not defeat him. As his Veterans Service Officer, I had the honor to assist him, but much more, we became close friends, and he shared some of his harrowing wartime experiences with me and how his faith in Jesus Christ sustained him through unimaginable terror, pain, and suffering. 3.C Pardue was an amazing gentleman who lived his life with a kind, humble grace. He loved America and his family dearly. I highly respected him for many reasons. But most of all I was proud to know him and be his friend, I will never forget him. The story his daughter tells through her father’s journals and notes is a story Americans today need to read.

Dr. Janis Pardue Hill has taken her late father’s journal of the atrocities he faced in the Bataan Death March and turned it into a thoroughly engaging and enlightening story. J.C. Pardue’s ability to stand strong in his faith allowed him to endure the unthinkable during a time of utter despair. Telling His Story should be required reading in every history classroom in America
